Chevrolet continues its Silverado EV teaser campaign. The manufacturer announced today that the electric pickup will premiere on January 5, 2022 at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. The novelty will be presented personally by the chairman of the board and CEO of the concern General Motors Mary Barra.
The company has also released a new photo of the Chevrolet Silverado EV that shows the fixed panoramic roof that GM will offer for the first time in the full-size pickup segment. In comparison, the soplatform GMC Hummer EV has a top with removable panels that can be stowed away in the front trunk. A wide screen is visible through the glass on the teaser: the details cannot be disassembled, but it looks like the driver’s interface of the electric Silverado will not be the same as that of the Hummer.
From previous reports, it is known that the Chevrolet Silverado EV will receive 24-wheel disks, a full-steering chassis and a wide range of options, including those for business. The range on a single charge should exceed 644 kilometers when certified according to the strict methodology followed by the US Environmental Protection Agency.
The Chevrolet Silverado EV will be produced together with a Hummer EV pickup and SUV at the Factory Zero Detroit plant. The timing of the appearance on the market of various versions of “Hummers” has already been scheduled (the most affordable modification will be released only by the spring of 2024), but with “Chevy” there is no such certainty yet. This summer, GMC boss Duncan Aldred told reporters that another electric pickup of the brand will be registered at the same factory. Presumably, it will be called Sierra EV.
