November, as expected, was marked by a new record of sales of “green” cars in China, breaking the mark of 400,000 units for the first time. In total, 413,094 new environmentally friendly vehicles were registered last month (up 106% year-on-year).

At the same time, not only the volume, but also the market share is growing, which amounted to an impressive 19%, of which 15% are pure electric vehicles, and 4% are hybrids. Since the beginning of the year, a total of 2.7 million copies of “battery-powered” cars have been sold. This is 11.5% of the total market.

China Battery Vehicle Sales – November 2021

This is how the official statistics of November sales for best-selling models looks like this:

The supercompact “Ulin” leads by a large margin, Model Y is in second place, the BYD plug-in hybrid closes the top three. And the preliminary results for the year do not change this picture much – except that the entire pedemstal is already behind battery electric vehicles:

The shares of brands within the segment were also interestingly distributed. BYD took the lead with 18%, followed by the SAIC-GM-Wuling joint venture with 15%. Tesla is in third place by a large margin (9 percent). SAIC lost only 3% to the Americans, the GWM concern increased its model range, which allowed it to break into the top five with a share of 4%, ahead of the Volkswagen Group by hundredths of a percent.
