In China, more and more Tesla “killers” appear almost every month, this time the Changan enterprise from Chongqing will try on a similar role, for which the Avatar brand will be organized, writes the South Cina Morning Post.

In this case, we are talking not just about a new startup, which will be supported by Changan Automobile, but about a certain conglomerate, which will be joined by Huawei and one of the largest manufacturers of lithium-ion batteries in China – CATL.

Changan Automobile assures that Avatar will be a wholly and completely independent manufacturer that is going to use the Huawei Harmony operating system in its cars, and based on the modern CHN platform.

According to the company’s plan, Changan plans to launch 26 green models in the coming years. The first two will appear already in this one. The truth is not disclosed under which brand.

As a reminder, Changan Auto is one of the largest manufacturers in China, which has joint ventures with Ford and Mazda. At the moment, the lineup consists of sedans, crossovers, minibuses and a couple of electric vehicles. In addition, Changan owns the brands Chana, Auchan, Skylark and Land Wind. But lately, the company has lagged far behind in the production of cars on alternative energy sources, so high hopes are pinned on Avatar, it should impose competition on such sub-brands as Voyah (Dongfeng), Zeekr (Geely) and R Auto (SAIC).
