Reuters writes about this with reference to representatives of enterprises.
According to published data, the Volkswagen and FAW joint venture in the Chinese city of Tianjin has been closed since Monday due to a new coronavirus outbreak. It is reported that the plant will resume its work after employees of the facility pass two negative tests for the new omicron coronavirus strain.
Another enterprise that “suffered” from the omicron was the Toyota plant in the same city. It is also closed Monday and will resume after full staff testing. Note that both enterprises were closed at the request of the city hall, which obliged absolutely all guests and residents to pass the coronavirus test.
Of course, the measures to counter viruses are very serious – at the end of January, China celebrates the New Year, and on February 4, the Olympics begin in Beijing. Note that at present, 41 cases of infection with the omicron strain have been registered in Tianjin.
