Corolla Cross for America has got all-wheel drive

Toyota Corolla Cross, adapted for the North American market, hardly differs from the “original” sold in Southeast Asia. Exterior features are limited to optics with side marker lights standard for the USA.

However, there is still a significant difference: in the new market, Corolla Cross will be offered for the first time with an all-wheel drive system with a rear axle clutch and a multi-link. Previously, only front-wheel drive was available for the crossover – this version with a torsion beam at the rear will be sold in the United States.

At the start, the model will be offered with the uncontested two-liter “aspirated” Dynamic Force, which is included in the crossover range in South America. There it runs on both gasoline and ethanol, producing 169 or 177 horsepower, respectively, while in the United States its power will be 171 horsepower (203 Nm of torque). Transmission – CVT Direct Shift. Later, the range will be supplemented with a hybrid modification, which is available in other markets.

Corolla Cross will be offered in three trim levels: L, LE and XLE. In the “base” the crossover is equipped with diode headlights, a multimedia system, adaptive cruise control and a complex of safety systems Toyota Safety Sense, and in the “top” it has an imitation leather interior, digital “tidy”, dual-zone climate control, 18-inch rims and an electric rear door.

The dollar value of the Toyota Corolla Cross is still unknown. The price tag is expected to be lower than the RAV4, which is asking for at least $ 26,000 in the US.
