Of the dozen vehicles that took part in the shooting, only three survived, this one is the most valuable.
On April 14-21, an auction will take place on the Volocars.com website, one of which will be a very accurate replica of the 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport, which participated in the creation of the fifth part of the Fast and the Furious. They expect to earn 95-100 thousand dollars for it.
Such copies are being built under license from General Motors by Mongoose Motorsports. 12 were made for cinema, but only three have survived, and this is the best. As the seller explains, this particular specimen did not participate in any real stunts: it was filmed using chroma key technology on a green background. Accordingly, the sports car had to remain in close to perfect condition. At the same time, it was with him that the actors Vin Diesel and Paul Walker spent most of the filming time.
This is a fully functional car with a silver body and black interior. With the exception of 17-inch PS Engineering wheels, it visually repeats the original Corvette Grand Sport, created by Zakhary Arkus-Duntov to compete with the Shelby Cobra, but is built on a custom chassis with a C4 generation Corvette suspension, equipped with a 5.7-liter 380- strong V8 engine and automatic transmission. Upon completion of filming, the transport coordinator acquired it for his personal collection, and then the roadster was bought by the organizers of the current auction.
By the way, there were only five real Corvette GS built in the sixties, all of them are in collections and are estimated at millions. At the same time, Chevrolet continues to produce modifications of the sports car with this name: the Grand Sport, which was oriented towards driving on the track, was in the last generation, and will appear in the current one. According to rumors, this time it will be a 600-horsepower hybrid.
