Hyundai has introduced a seven-seat modification of the second generation Creta crossover, called the Alcazar. The new model, designed specifically for the Indian market, will go on sale before the end of this year.
Hyundai Alcazar was created on the platform of the usual Creta, but the key difference of the novelty was the wheelbase increased by 150 mm, the size of which increased to 2760 mm. Alcazar shares all the main body elements with the standard crossover, but at the same time, the novelty has a number of significant external differences.
This applies to the significantly increased rear overhang and side windows at the rear of the vehicle, a redesigned radiator grille with a different pattern, different wheel designs and taillights.
Photos of the interior of the crossover have not yet been published, however, judging by the design sketches, Hyundai Alcazar will be offered in a standard seven-seater version, as well as with an interior with six seats. One of the pictures shows just such an option, where separate chairs are installed on the second row with an armrest between them.
Available equipment will include a virtual dashboard, 10.25-inch touchscreen multimedia display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, automatic climate control, wireless smartphone charging and a panoramic roof.
As for the name Alcazar, the model will be named after the medieval palaces of Spain and Portugal, which were built during the era of Arab rule.
Hyundai Alcazar will be offered with an upgraded 2.0-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine developing 159 hp. and 192 Nm of torque. The company promises that such a crossover will be able to accelerate from zero to “hundreds” in less than 10 seconds. Alternatively, a 1.5-liter 115 PS (250 Nm) diesel engine will be available, which has been specially tuned for a heavier vehicle than the standard Creta. Both units are capable of working with a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.
Prices for the new crossover will be announced closer to the start of sales. The possibility of the appearance of Hyundai Alcazar outside India has not yet been reported.
