Crossover from Lotus will receive an “all-seeing eye”

The British company Lotus will equip its Type 132 electric crossover with a roof lidar. According to what was shown in the new short video, it will open as soon as the car starts to move.

Recently, the main pioneers in the field of installing lidars on vehicles are the Chinese. They quickly occupied a niche and continue to develop in this area. Suffice it to recall at least the Weltmeister M7 sedan, which is equipped with not one, but five lidars at once. Since Lotus is now owned by Geely, it can be assumed that it was they who suggested installing a modern scanning system on the Type 132.

Nevertheless, the British brought in an original trick, because the lidar on their promising crossover can open and close, a la the headlights of a Japanese sports car from the 90s. How this can affect aerodynamics is not yet clear, but the solution is clearly more aesthetically pleasing than on the same Weltmeister.

Lotus will continue to fuel interest in the new product ahead of its official debut, which is expected to take place in the coming months. So far, the Geely concern is stingy on details, but still disclosed some data. First, the Type 132 will be able to accelerate to 100 km / h in 4 seconds. And secondly, the crossover will receive batteries with a capacity of 90 to 120 kWh, which will allow you to travel from 500 to 600 kilometers on a single charge.
