Prestigious South Korean crossover GV80 Genesis will be equipped with new turbo engines and robotized transmission DCT. Sales will begin early next year.
At the moment, the model range of the premium automaker – Genesis, no crossovers, and I must say that it is not very profitable in a time when becoming more and more popular cars of SUV segment. But the leadership of the brand has realized its miscalculation – the engineering team of the brand vengeance is preparing a crossover Genesis GV80.
According to automotive media Korea, new GV80 will be offered with three engines: a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine turbocharged, 3.5-liter V6 and 3.0-litre diesel unit.
The latter is a radnoy “six”, and there is evidence that crossover with this motor will not be available on some market. I note that representatives of the company Genesis today announced a line of power units for their first crossover International conference on engines of Hyundai-KIA in Seoul (Korea).
The 3.5-liter turbo engine can develop power up to 380 horsepower (529 Nm) and the diesel will be able to boast 278 “horses” (588 Nm), according to the Korean edition. The website did not mention power or torque for the 2.5-liter engine, which apparently will be the base engine for the Genesis GV80.
Along with three new engines, the crossover is to get new eight-speed “robot” with double clutch. This same gearbox with a wet clutch will also be offered for other models of Hyundai/KIA. South Korean crossover in the premium segment will go on sale in early 2020.
