The Chinese company GAC Motor has held a preliminary presentation of the second-generation GS8 mid-size crossover. As a reminder, the first pictures of this model were published in June.
The crossover is based on a modular platform GPMA (Global Platform Modular Architecture) of the automaker’s own development.
Car dimensions have been confirmed: length, width, height are 4980, 1950 and 1780 mm, respectively, wheelbase is 2920 mm.
The design of the new GS8 follows the latest iteration of the GAC brand identity – with much more restrained lines and shapes than the brand’s past models.
The second generation GAC GS8 will be produced in parallel in two motor versions. The first – with a 2.0-liter petrol turbo unit in combination with an 8-speed “automatic”. The second is a parallel hybrid system borrowed from Toyota Motor. The gasoline-electric complex Toyota Hybrid System at the GAC GS8 is built on the basis of a 2.0-liter turbo engine.
Externally, the pure petrol and hybrid versions can be distinguished by the design of the front end – the grille of the GS8 Hybrid is noticeably larger in size.
Salon GS8 of the second generation is still kept secret by the manufacturer.
