The MG SUV has got petrol and diesel engines, as well as a “mild” hybrid system. In sale the model will arrive in June.
The first official photos of the new MG posted in April, and today in India, there was its public premiere. Crossover called Hector, with it brand will begin to conquer the Indian market. Buyers will be offered a local car maker: manufacture the SUV manufactured at the plant in Halol, which is the concern SAIC, owner of the MG brand, bought out his longtime partner General Motors.
Hector was not designed from scratch, it is a converted Baojun 530 (brand Baojun, a joint project of SAIC and GM). By the way, cross MG – this is the third twin “Chinese” in Indonesia, the SUV is sold as Almaz Wuling (Wuling is another mark of the joint SAIC and GM), and in Thailand and countries in South America analog is positioned as the Chevrolet Captiva of new generation. And models Wuling and Chevrolet created on the basis of actual Baojun 530 outwardly from a donor are they different radiator grilles and emblems. But Hector is a harbinger restyled “five hundred and thirties”: the crossover of MG are not only a different grille, but the square headlights instead of round (located almost under the grill, top – daytime running lights), rear bumper – new, between the lights, a new red plate, there is a chrome strip. He Baojun 530 with this design is not yet presented, but the redesigned car is already caught during testing.
Indians Hector will be available only in five-seater version, although the original “Chinese” and the new Captiva is a seven-seater version. The main “trick” in the cabin – entertainment system with a vertical touchscreen, voice control and a built-in SIM card. However, this complex based on the model, starting with the second-highest configuration. At the same Wuling Almaz media, updated Baojun 530 also have a huge screen, but the Captiva got a small tablet, towering over the front panel.
The list of standard equipment includes Hector: a pair of airbags, ABS and EBD, ESP, rear Parking assist sensors, a cooled glove box. The top version, in addition the advanced multimedia system, has cruise control, camera circular review, panorama glass roof, six “airbag” Keyless entry system and engine start button.

The surcharge for gasoline cross will offer a “mild” hybrid system – 48-volt starter-generator, it puts out 20 Nm and helps the engine in the first seconds of acceleration (this version can only MKP). And Hector, you can buy with fiutowski turbodiesel Multijet II 2.0 (170 HP, 350 Nm), which is combined with 6МКП. The other brothers no hybrid or diesel versions no. Sale MG Hector will start in India in June, prices yet to be announced. Profile local media have tipped crossover starting price tag of 1 500 000 rupees, or 21 $ 300. The main competitors of the new MG will be the Jeep Compass (from 1560 000 rupees or 22 $ 200) and Tata Harrier (1 270 000 rupees or 18 $ 100).
