Great Wall introduced the Wey Macchiato compact crossover back this spring, with only hybrid powertrains prepared for the model. The basic version without plug-in capability has been on sale in the Chinese market since summer. A more advanced rechargeable hybrid crossover is now ready for market entry.
The novelty is equipped with the same L.E.M.O. N. DHT, which can work in both parallel and serial mode. At low speeds (up to about 35 km / h), only the electric motor drives the wheels, while the gasoline engine acts as a generator. With further acceleration, the combustion engine is connected to the drive wheels by means of a clutch. Instead of the usual gearbox, a two-stage reduction gearbox with a robotic shift mechanism was used here: the second gear is engaged at about 65 km / h.
Wey Macchiato with a rechargeable hybrid unit received the same 1.5-liter gasoline “aspirated” (97 hp, 125 Nm) as the initial version. At the same time, the new product has a more powerful electric motor, so the total output of the system reaches 268 hp. and 410 Nm instead of 190 hp. and 370 Nm for the standard hybrid. Front-wheel drive exclusively.
The battery is installed under the rear sofa, its capacity is 19.94 kWh. Exclusively on electric traction, the model can travel up to 110 kilometers. The company announced a consumption of 0.8 liters per 100 kilometers. Acceleration time from standstill to 100 km / h has been reduced from 8.5 seconds for the base hybrid to 7.2 seconds for the plug-in.
Both externally and in the cabin, the rechargeable hybrid is no different from the standard, and the equipment can be quite rich: leather trim, ventilation and a massager in the front seats, a panoramic roof and much more are provided.
At the moment, prices for the base Wey Macchiato crossovers start at $ 22,800, but the rechargeable version will be more expensive. The start of sales of new items in China is scheduled for the end of November.
