Cupra will introduce in Geneva the production version of the crossover Formentor

Crossover Formentor will join the “charged” Ateca and Leon.

A year ago, sports brand Cupra presented at the show in Geneva its first car, which has no equivalent in the model number – SEAT crossover Formentor. At that time, the novelty wore status of the concept, and now the company announced it was ready for production. Commodity option will be shown at another auto show in the same city.

Formentor will join the “hot” versions of “Seat” – which debuted the year before, the Cupra Ateca crossover and hatchback and wagon Leon Cupra declassified only yesterday. The market launch is scheduled for the second half, that is, the first independent “Cupra” will be available a little earlier “Leonov”, which will be available to Europeans in the fourth quarter.

Judging by the spy photos of prototypes and the fact that even the concept looked almost ready for the pipeline, special revelation in the design of the final version of the Cupra Formentor can be expected. Details have not been disclosed but it is likely that the crossover will retain the 245-horsepower hybrid setup with charging from the network, because the same units get Volkswagen Golf GTE, the Skoda Octavia RS iV and the aforementioned Leon Cupra.

“Charged” Leon could share with Formentor and conventional gasoline engines, including the 310-strong “turboservice”, available only for four-wheel-drive wagon.
