Employees of Daimler, which includes the premium Mercedes-Benz, just announced the decision to halt all future development of gasoline engines. The German automaker will focus exclusively on developing all-electric powertrains. This means that Mercedes-Benz will follow this development strategy.
“The future of the automotive industry purely electric. Daimler switches over completely to the creation of electric motors for its future models” in the framework of his recent interview said the head of design Daimler Markus Schaefer.
Daimler is currently preparing to unveil the latest generation of internal combustion engines for various models – we are talking about series six-cylinder engine, which will be installed in the E – and S-class, as well as some crossovers. This generation of the internal combustion engine may be your last concern.
Also, Mr. Schaefer noted that currently, Daimler has no plans for the future development of gasoline engines, although he notes that priorities can change. Currently, however, the focus is on creating only the electric motors.
Meanwhile, Mercedes-Benz slowly switched to electric development strategy. Already submitted electric crossover EQC (pictured), and will soon be shown the EQB and the Executive class sedan EQS. And of course there is manufacturer of small city cars, the Smart, which will also soon become an all-electric brand.
