The new generation Honda Civic Type R will be presented for the first time at the Tokyo Motor Show. The event will take place in mid-January next year, but the novelty will not be fully declassified. According to company representatives, the most that fans can count on is a test action video.
The five-door hot hatch will be presented in camouflage uniforms in which it is shown in official pictures. Whether the technical information will be declassified is unknown. There are still no sports car characteristics. But it is clarified that the new generation Civic Type R will be the sportiest in the history of the model. It is likely that not only a new chassis will be installed, but also a more powerful engine.
Perhaps the new product will use a 2.0-liter “turbo four” with a capacity of 306 hp, working in combination with a manual transmission. Earlier it was speculated that the Honda Civic Type R could become a 400-horsepower hybrid with an electric motor in the rear wheels, but Honda has denied this information.
The official photos of the new generation Civic Type R prototype show a developed aerodynamic body kit, a massive wing and air intakes. But compared to the tenth generation Type R, the novelty looks more restrained. The sales of the new sports car are expected to start in 2022.
