Renault has announced details of a new gasoline engine that its engineers are developing. Its release is scheduled for late 2021. He will become a star in the brand’s line of motors. The 1.2-liter 3-cylinder TCe engine will replace the current 1.3 TCe and form the basis for future E-Tech hybrids.
The high performance of Renault gasoline engines is one of the keys to success. The French firm has proven its expertise in some engines. The new engine has a very important role to play as the center axis for virtually the entire range from Clio to Kadjar.
The three-cylinder 1.2 TCe produces a maximum of 130 hp. The brand hopes to “stretch” this figure a little more. From 2026 it will meet the future Euro 7 emission standard. The new engine will be used as the thermal part of new hybrid kits and plug-in hybrids. It also replaces the naturally aspirated 1.6 petrol engine used in E-Tech.
Representatives of the brand have confirmed that the base engine will appear at the end of the year. And in 2022, thanks to electric support, it will be converted into a hybrid with a maximum power of 200 hp. The plans are to release a powerful hybrid unit, which will have a high productivity of 280 “horses”. This figure will allow the brand to open many doors when it launches in 2024.
