In the spring of this year, the diesel BMW 3 series and the X3 and X4 crossovers will by default be equipped with a moderate hybrid system. Its composition will include a 48-volt starter-generator, which will help the engine during acceleration, as well as replace a system “start-stop”.
Mild hybrids will be a sedan and wagon, BMW 320d, 320d xDrive, crossovers X3 xDrive20d and X4 xDrive20d – all of them will be 11-strong starter-generator and a 48-volt traction battery. The electric motor allows to achieve a slight increase of power when sudden acceleration and will provide more frequent engine operation in an optimized load range. It is entrusted with the system “start-stop”: the starter-generator will stop the engine when braking (if the speed drops below 15 miles per hour) or when coasting (up to 160 kilometers per hour).
Fuel consumption hybrid BMW 320d will be 4-4,1 liters per 100 kilometers, 320d xDrive – 4.2 to 4.3 liters, and X3 xDrive20d and X4 xDrive20d is 4.8–5.1 litres. An average efficiency of cars improves by 0.5 percent.
Also in the spring in the line of BMW 3 series will be a new budget version with the index 318i. Such machines will be equipped with two-liter turbo engine with output of 156 horsepower (250 Nm) and vosmidiapazonnoy automatic Steptronic. From zero to “hundreds” BMW 318i sedan can accelerate in 8.4 seconds, universal – in 8.7 seconds. Maximum speed – 223 and 220 kilometers per hour, respectively.
