Hyundai has expanded the engine range, “chetyrehdverki” the old generation, which is designed for the Indian market. Diesel sedan will be offered with two boxes to choose from.
In India, the redesigned sixth-generation Elantra with factory index AD started later: “cityradio” with a “triangular” design appeared only in the autumn of 2019. The refreshed sedan was released to the Indian market only with petrol “aspirated” 2.0 (152 HP), which thus directly in line with the new local ehkonorm BS6 (similar to Euro 6). Pre-reform there Elantra was available with a 128-horsepower diesel engine 1.6 CRDi, but the engine BS6 decided not to bring. A month ago, the sedan was replaced by the generation (now with index CN7), in Korea it is already taking orders (at the home of the brand model is called Avante). And the Indian unit of Hyundai, meanwhile, has decided to expand the range of previous versions of the Elantra.
So, in India, “sixth” Elantra will soon be available with a turbodiesel 1.5 CRDi 115 HP, which is familiar to other local models of group Hyundai-Kia. In particular, the same engine fitted to the Hyundai Grand SUV of the second generation relative of his cross KIA Seltos and the updated sedan Hyundai Verna. A-liter diesel, of course, meets the standard BS6. Like other models, the diesel Elantra is available with a six-speed “mechanics” or “automatic” (near petrol “chetyrehdverki” the same box).
Prices of the new version yet to be announced. And the company Hyundai sedan with a diesel engine does not promote, after all advertising activity is paused due to pandemic coronavirus COVID-19. However, at the local website of the brand already appeared updated brochure Elantra, so here it is, another innovation, this time unpleasant – model has lost the basic configuration.
However, at the moment the cheapest version is present on the site, it will cost 1 589 000 rupees (about 20 $ 800 at the current exchange rate), for this amount the buyer will receive the car with a pair of airbags, rear Parking sensors, air conditioning and a multimedia system. Top version put front and rear Parking sensors, led optics, leather interior, rear view camera, climate control and cruise control. The most expensive Elantra petrol today costs 2 039 000 rupees ($700 26).
Demand for the Elantra in India is scanty: in 2019, the model was stopped only 791 client (the overall result of the sales of the restyled and pre-reform versions).
As for the new generation sedan, it is expected to reach the Indian market next year. By the way, for “seventh” global Elantra diesel has not been announced, but the model was a hybrid installation.
