Stellantis’ predecessor, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, used tricky software on the 2014-2016 Ram 1500 and Jeep Grand Cherokee equipped with a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 engine.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine Auto with reference to Reuters.
The US government said the software installed on the cars activates emission controls during testing, but deactivates those controls during everyday real driving. As a result, these models emit more pollutants into the air than permitted by regulations.
Stellantis has agreed to recall and repair over 100,000 diesel vehicles in the United States. The company also agreed to pay a $ 305 million civil fine and implement a program to reduce excessive pollution from these vehicles.
