The main auto show in Germany can be disrupted by environmental activists from the organization “Sand in the Gears” (“Sand in gears”). Environmental activists are protesting against the IAA-2021 under the motto “#blockIAA – Drain automotive companies, protect the climate.”
It would seem that after the organizers of the Munich Motor Show, which will take place from 7 to 12 September, have found a compromise on covid restrictions, the exhibition has nothing to fear. However, it turned out that environmental activists were unhappy.
According to Automotive News Europe, environmentalists are serious about hindering the international auto show. Under loud slogans, they are going to achieve the cancellation of the auto show, thereby protecting the environment.
Even the fact that this year the organizers of the IAA decided to place special emphasis on different forms of individual mobility did not dampen the enthusiasm of the activists. They are confident that Germany is “uncontrollably moving towards a climate disaster” and electric cars are not a panacea.
Recall that the same organization tried to disrupt the IAA back in 2019, when the auto show was still in Frankfurt. Then the eco-activists blocked the main entrance.
