Electric car Porsche Taycan voted car of the year in Germany


Porsche Taycan voted car of the year in Germany at the ceremony German Car of The Year (GCOTY). Just award the best cars of 2020 was nominated for 35 cars. The final prize included 5 brands (Porsche, BMW, Opel, Mazda and Peugeot). The award marks the car’s performance, level of innovativeness and relevance of the market. Also, the nominees for the German car tested on the track and in the centre of road safety Bilster Berg. In the vote was attended by relevant German motoring journalists. Last year’s winner of the award also became a fully-electric vehicle – the Jaguar I-Pace. It is obvious that the jury and the world’s leading experts give their votes for ecological and innovative future.

“We are very proud that we managed to convince the expert jury of the advantages of Porsche Taycan and get a premium “German car of the year 2020″. This award once again confirms that we chose the right path with its strategy of withdrawal of this Porsche on the road, even with electric drive,” said victory CEO of Porsche Oliver Blum.

The jury was primarily impressed with the design of the electric vehicle and its chassis and powertrains. Although environmental aspects played the most important role in choosing the winner, but still Taycan has a significant advantage among other electric cars.


Porsche Taycan is the first production car with a system voltage 800V 400V instead of the usual, like all other electric cars. Charge the battery from a charging high-power constant current will be for a little more than 5 minutes, and a range of travel up to 100 km.

After a successful world premiere on 4 September 2019 Porsche Taycan has already gained popularity in many countries: the pre-orders for the model exceeded the number of 20,000. Recall that recently was also presented a new model Taycan 4S with two battery options and a range of up to 463 km (WLTP).
