Production and sales of passenger cars in China last month rose steadily, reaching a record level for June. The China Association of automobile manufacturers (CAAM) revealed that last month in China was produced and sold 2.33 million and 2.3 million vehicles respectively.
Production of motor vehicles rose by 6.3% compared to may, while growth in comparison with June of last year amounted to 22.5%.
For the first six months of 2020, production of cars in China decreased by 16.8% to 10.11 million units compared to the same period last year,
Sales rose by 4.8% compared to the previous month and by 11.6% compared to June last year. For the period from January to June, car sales fell by 16.9% to 10.26 million units compared to the same period last year.
The production and sale of cars on new sources of energy (NEV) continue to decline. CAAM reports double-digit reduction in production and sales of vehicles to new energy sources in China for the sixth month in a row.
Last month, China produced 102 000 cars on new sources of energy, which is 25% less than in June of last year, and the figure for January-June amounted to 397 000 units, which is 36.5% less than the same period last year.
NEV sales in China fell by 33.1% yoy to 104, 000 units in June, bringing the figure for January-June amounted to 393 000 units, which is 37,4% less than the same period last year.
