Renault is preparing a new electric crossover to join the Renault Megane family. Thanks to photo spies, we can see the Megane e-Tech electric up close. The presentation of the novelty will take place at the beginning of September this year during the IAA exhibition in Munich.
The Munich Motor Show is the stage where Renault will unveil the new member of the Megane family. The Megane e-Tech electic, the production version of last year’s Megane eVision concept, will make its public debut in early September. After the interior of the novelty was caught in the lenses of spy cameras, the exterior of the new electric model was captured nearby.
Renault has done everything possible to disguise the Megane e-Tech electric as Citroen. Beneath the psychedelic print film, the manufacturer has added details that will allow the electric crossover to pass for the well-known Citroen Airbumps. However, the stubborn C-pillar, the lift under the rear side windows and the taillights of this test car indicate that this is a Megane e-Tech electric.
The Megane e-Tech electric will be a 4.2 meter long electric crossover that has nothing to do with the current Megane except for the name. The electric newcomer stands on a completely new modular platform designed for electric vehicles. The CMF-eV, called the base, is already owned by Nissan alliance partner Ariya. The Megane e-Tech electric is not the successor to the Megane. Renault previously reported that the electric Megane will receive a 60 kWh battery, from which it will be possible to “squeeze” up to 450 kilometers. Recall that the Megane eVision concept had a 217 hp electric motor. and 300 Nm, which can also be used in the production version.
