The Lexus company reported on global sales for 2021, and at the same time declassified the new serial electric crossover RZ 450e in official photos. The premiere of the model is scheduled for spring: the novelty will become a premium analogue of the Toyota bZ4X, with which it shared the e-TNGA platform. Specifications of the RZ 450e have not yet been made public, but most likely it will be more powerful than the bZ4X, the top modification of which is equipped with a twin-engine 218-horsepower unit.
In the new images, you can see the details of the exterior of the electric crossover. As expected, he received unique features, due to which he distances himself from the non-premium Toyota bZ4X. The RZ 450e has a different rear-pillar design, and two unusual aerodynamic “fins” crown the roof. At the stern there is a rear light that stretches across the entire width of the body. At the same time, its charging port is located in the same place as that of the bZ4X.
The e-TNGA platform features McPherson front and multi-link rear suspension. It was previously suggested that the 450e index hints at a more powerful power plant than the bZ4X. Most likely, already in the base the crossover will be all-wheel drive and will receive a proprietary Direct4 traction distribution system.
The Mercedes-Benz EQC, Tesla Model Y, Audi Q4 e-tron and Genesis GV60 are called the competitor of the future Lexus RZ.
Last year, out of 706,000 Lexus vehicles sold, 260,000 were hybrids or electric vehicles. By the end of the decade, battery models of different classes will appear in the arsenal of the Japanese brand, and by 2035 the automaker intends to completely switch to the production of electric cars.
