Electric Macan spotted in the company “Taikan”

We have been observing the tests of an all-electric analogue of the Porsche Macan for more than a year: the first pictures of the prototype were at the disposal of colleagues from InsideEVs in October 2020. Now our spies have spotted several test cars at once undergoing tests in the company of another battery model – the white Taycan sedan.

The all-terrain vehicle, for which, most likely, they will come up with a separate name so as not to confuse buyers, is not yet ready to pose in front of the cameras in its true guise, and the developers hide it using various tricks. At the front there are decals that simulate headlights (although the real lighting technology in the style of the same Taycan and the Mission E concept that preceded it can still be seen). The rear part of the side glazing was also hidden behind a sticker, and a semblance of exhaust pipes was depicted on the stern.

The design of the rear lights by the time they are put on the conveyor will certainly change – as well as the body as a whole. At the same time, the electric car should retain the sloping roof, and the retractable spoiler will most likely remain.

This SUV will be based on the PPE (Premium Platform Electric) architecture developed in collaboration with Audi, on which several more models will be built, including the Audi Q6 e-tron and A6 e-tron. “Electromakan” will receive air suspension, fully steerable chassis and charging even faster than that of “Taikan”. The premiere is scheduled for 2022. A couple of years later, the petrol Macan will most likely be retired, but for a while the two models will be sold in parallel.
