The website of the Ministry of Industry and Informatization of the PRC has new photos and technical details about the new generation Mitsubishi Airtrek crossover. The car should go on sale by the end of 2021.
The first pictures of the car were published in June. Recall that the model was developed by the JV GAC Mitsubishi Motors, in which equal shares are divided between GAC Motor and MMC.
At the heart of Airtrek is the platform of the GAC Aion V electric car, which has been produced since 2020, and the novelty differs from it in the original design of the front and rear parts of the body. The front with an X-shaped front grille echoes other Mitsubishi models of the latest generation. At the rear, unusual lights – in the form of the letter Y laid to one side – attract attention.
The Airtrek is 4630 mm long, 1920 mm wide, and 1728 mm high. At the same time, it boasts a very large wheelbase for this size – 2830 mm. The ground clearance is 160 mm.
The Aion V is powered by a front-mounted 184 hp electric motor powered by a 60 or 80 kWh battery. As a result, the power reserve on a single charge reaches 400 or 600 km. Mitsubishi Airtrek will have the same power plant.
Recall that in the 2000s, Mitsubishi already used the name Airtrek: from 2001 to 2005, the Outlander crossovers were sold under it in the Japanese market.
Mitsubishi Airtrek pricing has not yet been announced, nor is the exact launch date for the model on sale.
