While there are people who may think otherwise, there is nothing wrong with a vehicle recall. On the contrary, it means that the brand values its reputation and if it detects a risk to users, it will immediately solve it.
This time, two electric vehicles fell under the recall arranged by Peugeot: Peugeot e-208 and e-2008. As can be read in the appendix to the European Commission notifications, the recall is issued due to the fact that “due to a manufacturing error, a short circuit could occur in the battery located under the front hood.”
An issue that the European body continues to state “may increase the risk of fire while the vehicle is being loaded or driven.” The service promotion covers models manufactured between January 15 and June 20, 2020. The e-208 is an SUV with a 100 kW (136 hp) electric motor paired with a 50 kWh battery. Same powerplant as the e-2008, albeit in SUV format in this case.
Recently, both models announced improved autonomy: 362 kilometers for the hatchback and 345 kilometers for the SUV, representing an increase of 22 and 25 kilometers, respectively.
