General Motors Chief Executive Mary Barra said the company has received more than 110,000 applications from private customers and 240 dealerships across the US for the new Chevrolet Silverado electric pickup truck. According to representatives of the brand, such a hype is associated with a huge demand among the population for “green” vehicles. Moreover, deliveries of the electric pickup are scheduled only for 2023.
The company received more than 110,000 reservation requests a few weeks after the premiere of the electric pickup. Pre-orders came from both private buyers and 240 dealerships, whose customers have expressed a desire to be the first owners of the Chevrolet Silverado EV. Deliveries of the future novelty to car dealerships are scheduled only for 2023. Representatives of the brand said that they would completely transfer the plant in Orion Township, Michigan, to the production of an electric pickup truck. Thus, by 2025 the company plans to produce about 600,000 battery-powered Silverados.
The Chevrolet Silverado EV lineup will include three versions. The base version in the WT configuration is estimated at $ 40,000. In addition, the off-road version of the Trail Boss will be available to buyers, as well as the First Edition series, equipped with a 664-horsepower power plant with two electric motors. Such a modification of a pickup truck will be able to drive more than 600 kilometers without recharging and accelerate to “hundreds” in 4.5 seconds.
In early January, General Motors announced that the Electric Silverado EV RST First Edition sold out in 12 minutes. To book an electric pickup, a $100 deposit was required.
