Subaru will burst into the Tokyo auto show with several high-performance innovations. The loudest will be the all-electric STI model – a concept car called the STI E-RA, whose smoky front end was shown by the company in a teaser. In addition to him, two more show cars will arrive in Tokyo: the WRX STI performance in a special body kit and the Levorg STI performance station wagon, as well as a custom BRZ STI and a racing BRZ GT300, which won the prestigious Super GT championship in 2021.
The STI E-RA is a showcase for Subaru’s motorsport expertise, which is “entering the era of carbon neutrality,” according to the company’s press office. The concept, executed in red, differs significantly from the new WRX STI: the teaser lacks the usual grille, instead of the central air intake there are two smaller openings. The headlights with C-shaped running lights appear more compact and the STI logo is highlighted in red.
The second show car, the WRX STI performance, is based on the WRX S4 STI Sport R for the Japanese market and has a number of improvements from the sports division. These include a large carbon fiber rear wing and a thin pink body kit along the perimeter, echoed by the exterior mirror housings.
The Levorg STI performance station wagon from Subaru Tecnica International got an exterior decor in the same pink color (Subaru calls it cherry red), a modernized muffler and some additional elements designed to increase practicality. In addition, the brand will exhibit two BRZs at its stand: a BZR STI with various sporty details and a BRZ GT300 racing coupe.
In mid-December, Subaru unveiled in Japan a special version of the XV crossover, dedicated to the tenth anniversary of the model. The Advance Style Edition features 18-inch graphite wheels with metallic gray details and a yellow stitching combination.
