Electrical pickup from Rivian will receive a “tank mode”

In the Network appeared information about the special functions of electropica Rivian R1T, which allows the vehicle to make a turn on the spot, by analogy with a car on the tracks. Foreign media has even published a video showing the operation of the system, but it was deleted later at the request of the company.

The theory about the appearance of this mode on the electric cars of the brand confirms the fact that in 2018, the company Rivian patented the name Tank Turn and Steer Tank (“tank turn” and “tank management”). Moreover, at the end of last year, a brand representative confirmed that all cars, equipped with four engines, unable to function, is intended solely for the dirt and gravel roads.

In addition to these the “tank” cars Rivian R1T will be able to recharge each other. To do this, they will complement the additional battery pack.

Pickup presented at the motor show in Los Angeles last year, backed by the power plant, which includes four electric motors – one at each wheel. Total return units is 760 HP and 1120 Nm of torque. This allows R1T accelerate to 100 kilometers per hour in about three seconds. A similar system is put the SUV R1S, and also the third model of the brand – “crazy” hatchback with impressive ground clearance.

Earlier it was reported that electric pickup R1T and R1S seven-seat SUV from Rivian will go on sale before the end of 2020. The car will be produced in small batches and sold in North America, China, Europe, Australia and South Africa.
