Elephant with cheetah speed: demonstration of the dispersal of the Hummer EV

In Watts to Freedom (WTF) mode, the Hummer’s electric pickup is at full throttle and can accelerate to 60 mph (97 km / h) in about 3 seconds. In this mode, the on-board electronics of the pickup will begin to simulate the “countdown before launch” due to animation on the screens and special voice acting. The air suspension of the car lowers the body by 50 millimeters to lower the center of gravity.

Special instructions will be displayed on the screen, following which the driver must activate the launch control and release the brake pedal at the right time on command. While driving, the screen will display information about the speed and the level of the longitudinal load.

It is also worth noting that in the official instructional video, a pickup was shot with a body kit removed and non-standard head lighting equipment. Experts believe that this may be a hint that testing of the GMC Hummer EV is still ongoing. It should also be noted that the video, which demonstrates the option for the production model, has an inscription:

“Filmed on closed roads with a professional driver, do not try again.”

The Watts to Freedom function will be part of the standard equipment of Edition 1. Cars in this version will be delivered to customers this fall. The equipment list for this version will include all available equipment, including a fully steered chassis and a three-engine power plant with 1014 hp. Acceptance of orders for this special version was opened in October 2020 and all limited edition cars were sold out per day despite the price of $ 112,595.

A simpler modification of the electric car will go on sale in a year. For $ 99,995, they will offer a version with a cut-down list of equipment and 842 hp electric motors. In addition, the model will also have a version with a five-door body.
