KIA and Hyundai ordered to recall nearly half a million vehicles. A thorough check will affect half a million cars: Sportage 2014-2016, as well as KIA K900 and Hyundai Santa Fe.
This is reported by RBC-Ukraine Auto with reference to NHTSA.
All cars that fall under the recall campaign were sold between 2016 and 2018. The reason for the recall was a malfunction of the ABS unit. It turns out that two models of crossovers and a sedan can catch fire, even if the engine is turned off. The cause of the fires has not yet been precisely established, but with a greater degree of probability, its source lies in the anti-lock braking system control unit.
A short circuit occurs in it, which leads to a fire. But the cause of the short circuit has yet to be figured out by automotive engineers. About a year ago, the “Koreans” already had a recall campaign related to the brakes. At the end of 2020, KIA Optima, Sorento and Hyundai Santa Fe were leaking brake fluid, which threatened to ignite the engine.
