Renowned automotive designer Frank Stephenson has released a new video on the exterior of the next generation BMW 2 Series Coupe.
Frank Stephenson said that he considers the design of the new generation of the BMW 2 Series overcomplicated. It is noteworthy that he did not like the car from all sides. Still, the designer was pleasantly surprised by the fact that the “deuce” did not receive huge “nostrils” in the spirit of the 4 series, but he did not like the shape of the headlights. Frank believes that the optics are not combined with other elements of the front end, and without the characteristic radiator grill in this car, it is generally difficult to recognize a BMW car.
The ex-designer of the German brand believes that the front of the car cannot be fixed and should have been completely rebuilt. Stephenson’s attention was also drawn to the “caricatured” hood, which seemed to him too long, and the side parts of the coupe overloaded with plastic. The rear of the car has been criticized for the shape of the lights and the abundance of different lines and angles.
During his long career, Stephenson managed to have a hand in creating cars of the Mini, Ferrari, Maserati, Fiat, Lancia, Alfa Romeo, McLaren brands, and he is also one of the creators of the first generation BMW X5.
