The IndianAutosBlog has spy photos of Hyundai’s new compact crossover, which will be the smallest SUV in the brand’s lineup. Cars were photographed in a parking lot in South Korea before being loaded onto a car transporter.
At the moment, Hyundai’s new small crossover is known under the internal designation AX1. In the frame were two copies of the model, which stand next to the larger second-generation Creta car, thanks to which the angular silhouette of the body and the compact size of the novelty are noticeable.
According to preliminary data, the engine lineup will include gasoline three-cylinder 1.0-liter engines, which will operate with a mechanical or robotic gearbox. Basic equipment is expected to include front airbags, ABS and brake force distribution, rear parking sensors, and an auto-dimming interior mirror.
The premiere of Hyundai AX1 should take place in 2021. Presumably, the model will be designed for the markets of Southeast Asia, but it is possible that the crossover will become a global car and reach other regions.
In early March, Hyundai unveiled the new Bayon compact crossover, which has become the most affordable SUV in the South Korean brand’s lineup on the European market. At the heart of the Hyundai Bayon is the i20 compact hatchback platform, with which the crossover has shared the engine lineup. We are talking about three-cylinder gasoline engines with a capacity of 85 to 125 hp, which can be operated with a mechanical or robotic gearbox. Crossover prices start at € 16.8 thousand
