Sir Frank Williams, creator and former head of the Williams Racing formula team, has passed away at the age of 79. The Williams team made a statement:

“Today we honor the memory of a person whom we loved very much and who inspired everyone. We will miss Frank very much. We ask all friends and colleagues to respect the wishes of the family and in this difficult time not to violate its right to privacy. ”

Frank Williams started his career in motorsport as a driver and mechanic, and already in 1966 he founded the Frank Williams Racing Cars team, which competed in Formula 2, and later in Formula 1. In 1977, Williams was forced to sell the team due to financial problems, and a new one, WilliamsF1, appeared in the same year. In 1980-1990 she was one of the strongest in the Royal Races.

For those looking to honor Frank Williams, the team has offered to bring flowers to the entrance to Williams’ headquarters in Grove.
