The American company AddArmor has released an armored version of the Ferrari 458 Speciale. The creators of the car said that the novelty has not lost its dynamic characteristics and has become one of the fastest bulletproof cars in the world.
According to motortrand, AddArmor has added polycarbonate panels to the car’s design that are “10 times stronger than standard steel armor, but about 60 percent lighter.”
The total weight of the armor was just over 70 kilograms, but it meets the European standard B4. This means that it will protect the driver and passengers from small arms fire, such as pistols, writes Autonews.
The company reported that the prototype shown costs 625 thousand dollars. The package of improvements will cost the client approximately 28 thousand dollars.
The Ferrari 458 Speciale is powered by a 4.5-liter V8 powertrain with 605 horsepower. The car accelerates to 100 km / h in 3 seconds and 200 km/h in 9.1 seconds. The maximum speed is set at 330 km/h.
