Ferrari has identified a defect in the braking system on models 458 and 488. According to the Autoblog portal, the malfunction may appear on about 10,000 supercars that were assembled between 2009 and 2019.
As of today, Ferrari has no solution to the problem. Moreover, the number of 10,000 defective cars is only approximate. The automaker has yet to figure out the true scale of the recall campaign.
At this point, Ferrari has sent a notice to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that the defect is related to the brake master cylinder. However, the reason why the leaks appear, the engineers have not yet figured out.
Since a malfunction of the brake system carries great risks, the Italian automaker today simply recommends that the owners of defective cars park them and wait for the notification of an invitation to service. In the case of continued operation, you need to monitor the low brake fluid level lamp. When you turn it on, you need to call a tow truck and take the car to the nearest Ferrari dealership.
