The cars that drove Michael Schumacher, no less popular than the pilot. This gives their owners an opportunity to gain a tidy sum from their sale. That is exactly what happened with the Ferrari F2002, No. 219.

The Ferrari F2002 in which Michael Schumacher won numerous victories in races in the season, Formula 1 2002, was sold for 6 643 750 US dollars, including buyer’s Commission, at a recent RM auction at Sotheby’s in Abu Dhabi. It is reported by Auto Informant with reference to Carscoops.

Originally No. 219 was flown by don Schumacher and his teammate Rubens Barrichello during the pre-season testing on the track of Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain. He made his debut at the Grand Prix of San Marino in mid-April. Barrichello drove 219-2nd place, while Schumacher got 1st place on Ferrari F2002 No. 220. Ferrari changed the car but Schumacher and No. 219 was able to finish first.

After the season Ferrari have sold both cars to a Japanese collector. Later the car with the number 219 was sold in 2012 and all proceeds were donated to the charity. And now, 7 years later, it was put up for auction by RM Sotheby’s a few months ago in preparation for the auction in Abu Dhabi.

After the auction the engine and transmission of the car will be fully rebuilt by Ferrari. The cost will be completely covered by the seller. When all work will be performed, F2002 will be transferred to the new owner in Fiorano.
