Concern Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) in the near future intends to abandon the production models of the A-segment. Primarily this will affect Fiat Panda. The automaker will switch to the cars In the class, reports Autocar referring to the statement of FCA CEO Mike Manley.
According to Manley, Fiat intends to strengthen its position in the B-segment, which previously included Punto. This may mean that the company intends to bring to market a successor to this model. We can assume that the new car will share a platform with the Peugeot 208 and Vauxhall Corsa, to which the FCA will have access after the merger with PSA.
Meanwhile, from the Fiat 500, the automaker is unlikely to refuse: earlier it was reported that in 2020 the market needs to receive the fully electric 500e. According to British journalists, the company would not curtail the project immediately before the debut.
Thus, it remains only one contender “shootout” – available Fiat Panda. At the end of last year in Europe this model was sold in the amount of 168 thousand copies and was one of the most popular city cars in Europe. For the first half of this year, dealers have implemented more than 150 copies of Panda.
