At the moment it is no longer a secret that Ford is preparing a new compact pickup. Photos of the tailgate have already appeared on the web, on which the name Maverick is applied, and pictures of the body parts allow you to imagine how the new product will look. The designers of the Motor1.com portal, based on all available information, presented their vision of the exterior of the upcoming model.
Designers believe that the compact pickup will receive a massive radiator grille in combination with rounded optics. This assumption is supported by images leaked from the Ford assembly plant in Hermosillo, Mexico. The renders show a version with a body-colored bumper, but a more practical version with an unpainted bumper may appear.
It is assumed that the novelty may use some of the design cues from the mid-size Ranger, but with a touch of design from the new F-150. Thus, the model will look less aggressive, but at the same time its design will remain attractive. The new Maverick will be based on the same platform as the Escape and Bronco Sport. Rumors have emerged that the new Maverick will only be offered with a four-door cab.
Considering that the new Maverick will technically repeat the Escape and Bronco Sport, it can be assumed that the power plants will be offered a 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbo engine, which will probably become the base one, as well as a 2.0-liter turbocharged unit. All-wheel drive will most likely be available as an option.
The new Maverick could debut in the first half of this year as a 2022 model.
