The GAC brand has published the first images of the new model without camouflage.
At the heart of the new GAC Trumpchi GS8 crossover is the GPMA (GAC Global Platform Modular Architecture) modular platform, which appeared 2 years ago along with the compact GAC Trumpchi GS4 crossover. The exact dimensions of the novelty have not yet been named, but the length of the new GS8 will grow to about 5 meters against the current 4836 mm, and they also promise a noticeable increase in height.
At the same time, the new GAC Trumpchi GS8 will retain its brutal proportions, two-story head optics, and the characteristic shape of the taillights. The mirrors of the crossover are now installed on the door panels, and not in the corners of the glass, as before. There are no photos of the new interior yet, but it is stated that the model range will include versions for 6 or 7 seats, that is, the third row will remain in the basic configuration.
The base GAC Trumpchi GS8 will retain the 2.0-liter turbo unit, but instead of the 6-speed “automatic” there will be an 8-speed one. A hybrid version will also appear in the model lineup, for which Toyota will supply the transmission. We are talking about THS (Toyota Hybrid System) technology with an electromechanical variator, familiar from many hybrids of Toyota and Lexus brands. All details about the new GAC Trumpchi GS8 crossover will be revealed in the coming months.
