KIA has officially announced the premiere of the second generation Niro. The new version of the model, which became the first hybrid crossover of the South Korean brand, will be shown on November 25 as part of the Mobility Show in Seoul. On the eve of the premiere, KIA has released teasers of the exterior and interior: the Niro’s exterior has been reimagined according to the Opposites United design language applied to the KIA EV6, as well as with an eye to the 2019 HabaNiro concept car. The engine range, as before, will include exclusively electrified options.

The teasers show the angular strokes of daytime running lights, like the HabaNiro, located under a continuous diode strip across the entire width of the front end. Behind the optics, too, almost repeats the concept: the boomerang lights, which KIA slightly opened during prototype tests, are stretched to the full height of the rear pillars. The compact cross is also promised a two-tone body.

Recycled materials are abundantly used in the salon, which corresponds to the eco-friendly image of the model. The minimalist front panel houses an asymmetric cluster with digital gadgets and a screen of a multimedia system that is slightly inferior in size.

KIA has not yet disclosed information about the “stuffing”. The model is expected to keep a petrol-electric version based on the 1.6-liter engine. On the current generation crossover, it is combined with an 8.9 kilowatt-hour battery, which allows to travel on electric traction up to 42 kilometers, however, for the novelty, it will probably offer a more capacious option.

In addition, the range will retain the electric version of the Niro EV, which will also receive an increase in power and range compared to the current 201-horsepower version, which can travel up to 385 kilometers on a single charge.
