Different brands recently announced that they consider economically disadvantageous development of traditional compact cars.
Not to say that the A-segment, which successfully marketed such cars as the Peugeot 108 or Toyota Aygo, is under threat of extinction. The transition to electric mobility will play a major role in the survival of the smallest cars. Volkswagen ID.1 is one of the future characters in this field.
Although Volkswagen already offers a compact electric vehicle e-Up and e-Golf, it’s just an intermediate step. In the coming years Volkswagen will deploy its “offensive electric move” with the label ID. Unlike the e-Up and e-Golf, these models are really designed from scratch. The first will be ID.3 as an electric alternative to the Volkswagen Golf still successful, it will be an electric crossover. In addition, Volkswagen has already shown the successor to the all-electric station wagon to replace the Golf Variant. The latest novelty – compact EV that Volkswagen announced on the eve of Christmas. Most likely it will be ID.1.
This year, Volkswagen will show a concept version of the compact beginner, but the designers have already presented their car’s visibility. Basically, it is the successor to the e-Up, with necessary identifying characteristics which provide the considerably less traditional look. The model ID ID.1 is also built on the platform of Volkswagens MEB.
It is noteworthy that ID.1 is not fully consistent with the model Up, in terms of size, as it becomes a little bit more. Experts believe that external ID sizes.1 will be between the Up and Polo. Volkswagen hints at the interior, crossover-like T-Cross. According to preliminary information, the reserve ID.1 is from 250 to 300 kilometers. This, of course, estimates based on current publications, it is not surprising if it will be more.
