Volkswagen has unveiled the first official image of the updated Transporter / Multivan lineup, which will receive the T7 index.
Note that the new Volkswagen Multivan minibus is shown in the teaser image with a luminous strip that runs across the entire width of the front end. As writes the edition Motor1, this may serve as a hint at the hybrid component of the power plant of the model. The same strip is used, for example, on some Golf modifications and Volkswagen electric vehicles. Judging by the teaser image, a fundamental solution for head optics will be taken from the Golf model for the novelty. In general, the T7 minibus will retain the same body silhouette, but, as shown by early spy shots, the hood of the model will be significantly reduced.
As previously reported, one of the main power plants for the passenger version of the VW Mulltivan T7 may be a hybrid drive from the Golf GTE version with a 150-horsepower gasoline turbo engine and a 116-horsepower electric motor. Utility vehicles and commercial vans will likely continue to be equipped with a 2.0-liter diesel engine in various performance options. At the same time, the choice between front and all-wheel drive should be retained for future buyers of the model.
The interior architecture will be built on the model of the eighth generation Volkswagen Golf model for the T7 minibus. The interior of the VW T7 will have an electronic instrument panel and a large display of the media system, as well as a number of touch keys instead of physical ones. Exactly when the official debut of the novelty is planned has not yet been announced.
