The official premiere of the long-awaited novelty will take place on April 15 this year. Previously, the pickup was seen several times in tests, and also depicted in renders.

The Korean company Hyundai, two weeks before the premiere of the Hyundai Santa Cruz pickup, showed the production version of the car in the photo. They provide an opportunity to assess how the novelty will look like. It’s been six years since the pickup concept car was released, so it’s hard to talk about similarities here.

The new Santa Cruz will receive the latest generation Tucson crossover features. Distinctive features of the exterior are the headlights, which are very successfully integrated into the radiator grille. In addition to the front part, Santa Cruz will receive a load-bearing part and a platform from the new Tucson. From this it can be assumed that the Hyundai Santa Cruz will be equipped with a front-wheel drive system with a clutch for connecting the rear axle.

There is practically no doubt that the power units of the two cars will be identical – in this case, the Santa Cruz engine range will consist of atmospheric and turbocharged gasoline engines. It is possible that Hyundai engineers will add a powerful 3.0-liter diesel engine capable of producing 278 hp to the Santa Cruz.

Such a power unit successfully works on the Genesis GV80 crossover. There were also rumors about a hybrid version, but the exact information will only be on April 15th.

The production of the new pickup truck will be established in the United States, where four Hyundai models are assembled – Sonata, Elantra, Tucson and Santa Fe. The conveyor will be launched in the summer of 2021.

Meanwhile, the German company Volkswagen has presented a small crossover Taigun. The car will enter the Indian car market, where it will compete with compact crosses of other brands.
