An unusual prototype got into the lenses of spy cameras: a compact sports coupe, which repeats the soplatform Toyota GR 86 and Subaru BRZ, but with the front part, designed like a modern Lexus. According to foreign media reports, the project was named Lexus UC, and the model’s debut is scheduled for autumn 2021 Insiders predict a new hybrid power plant based on a 2.4-liter engine borrowed from the GR 86 and BRZ, and the latest media system.
According to the Japanese portal Spyder7.com, UC stands for Urban Coupe in the name of the project. The novelty was built on the same architecture as the Toyota GR 86 and Subaru BRZ, and the future sports coupe is supposedly driven by an electrified installation: it can be either a “soft” hybrid or a full-fledged one with a mains charging function. Power has not yet been disclosed, but it will clearly be more than 235 horsepower, which produces 2.4-liter “aspirated” on the GR 86 and BRZ.
The Lexus UC will surpass Toyota GR 86 in size: the coupe will be about 4.5 meters long versus 4.23 for the GR 86. At the same time, the novelty will be noticeably shorter than the current RC, the overall length of which reaches 4.7 meters.
A special feature of the Lexus coupe will be the front end styling of the LC and GS models. UC is also predicting the latest infotainment system, already familiar from the next-generation NX crossover.
Portal Creative Trend, in turn, reports that Lexus UC may debut this fall. The model will become the most compact and affordable coupe in the Japanese brand’s lineup.
