Photos show the sleek new five-door Honda Civic hatchback due later this year.
Previously, a completely new sedan Honda Civic was presented, but the hatchback model has so far only appeared on official teasers in the form of a darkened silhouette. Reflecting patent images that emerged late last year, the photographs posted this time on the web were captured during pre-videography by one of the bloggers and posted on the Civic11 forum prior to the June 24 premiere date.
If this was not clear before, now it can be categorically stated that the new-generation 2021 Honda Civic hatchback will have a slightly more aggressive design and, at least in some variants, will have pronounced exhaust holes, which may indicate to more powerful versions of engines under the hood.
Judging from the pictures, the hatchback will receive a significantly different C-shaped LED taillights, which represent an evolution of the design of the rear of the current hatchback, merged into a more mature, conservatively styled group. The front end will resemble a sedan, showing a simpler and cleaner shape than before. The new Civic will also get an upmarket interior with a 7- or 9-inch center touchscreen, and top models will have a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster.
The 11th-generation Honda Civic hatchback will also form the basis of the next-generation Civic Type R, which features an electrified version of the famous 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine. Standard models with a 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine will be complemented by a small electric motor and battery for an estimated combined output of 136 hp. and 250 Nm of torque.
