Genesis Motors has never had a coupe, despite Hyundai planning for a Genesis coupe long before the premium sub-brand was born. Unfortunately, development of the Genesis coupe was discontinued by Hyundai in 2016, and the model, for one reason or another, did not fall under the new Genesis badge.
There were rumors that the coupe would return to Genesis Motors, but nothing has been implemented yet. However, during a recent Genesis Motor Europe press conference, several concept drawings were uncovered that show what appear to be versions of the G70 sedan in a sportier coupe form.
In addition, in a recent interview, Scott Margason, Hyundai’s director of product planning, mentioned that he wants the Genesis coupe to return. This is interesting and thought provoking. A luxury coupe that could compete with the likes of the BMW M4 would make a great comparison.
Whether Genesis Motors is working on a coupe, only time will tell, but for now all we can do is imagine what a real Genesis Motors GT70 coupe would look like. On the render of the Genesis GT70 Coupe racing down the track, the front grille and light box are more in line with what the 2021 X Genesis Concept looked like, but it’s not too far off from the revamped 2022 G70 Sedan with separate lighting housings and crisp design lines. p>
