The IIHS has praised the standard safety technology and headlights of the American Ford Bronco Sport SUV.
The 2021 Ford Bronco Sport SUV was able to earn the Top Safety Pick + from the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety). The new SUV has successfully passed the crash test, getting good results (maximum possible score) in all tests.
IIHS has rated the standard Co-Pilot 360 Driver Safety Kit, which comes with Bronco Sport, as improved for collision avoidance between vehicles and pedestrians. The agency assigned the same rating to the optional Co-Pilot 360 Assist + system.
Standard LED headlights were also rated Good. The IIHS has rated both low and high beams as providing satisfactory visibility on both sides of the road when driving straight ahead and in bends.
To qualify for the Top Safety Pick +, a vehicle must score well in six IIHS crash tests. An Advanced or Superior frontal collision avoidance system must be available. Standard headlamps, regardless of trim, must be rated “Acceptable” or “Good”.
Bronco Sport starts at $ 26,820. The car can be purchased with a 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbocharged engine producing 181 hp. (259 Nm), as well as a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 245 hp. (259 Nm). All models have an eight-speed automatic and four-wheel drive.
