Ford intends to increase the production of electric pickups twice

The American automaker intends to almost double the production of the F-150 Lightning pickup by 2023.

F-150 pickup trucks have always enjoyed incredible demand in the American market, and therefore the electrified version of the F-150 Lightning immediately became a bestseller. When Ford opened pre-order with a prepaid $ 100, dealers received over 200,000 requests and now believe that 80% of customers will buy back their trucks.

Initially, it was planned to produce 40,000 cars annually, but then the company increased the bar to 80,000 cars by the beginning of 2023. And now the annual circulation has grown to 150,000 pickups. Unfortunately, representatives of the brand did not say exactly how they plan to increase production and whether this will require additional investments and the creation of new jobs.

It is noteworthy that earlier the director of Ford, Jim Farley, said that about 70% of customers who pre-ordered the F-150 Lightning buy the brand’s car for the first time. This is important for the manufacturer as the company aims to become the second largest electric vehicle manufacturer in the world within the next two years.
